An Evening with Reinaldo Moya
September 4 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm| Free
(Free but registration required)
This event features The DaPonte String Quartet performing “Chapter One” preceded and followed by conversation and presentation by both the composer, Reinaldo Moya, and the DaPonte String Quartet.
This event is being produced in connection with the Inaugural Ellis-Beauregard Foundation Composer Award, a collaboration between the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, and the Ellis-Beauregard Foundation.
“Chapter One” by Minnesota-based composer Reinaldo Moya premiered in February of 2021, and was a commission by The Jasper Quartet.
The FREE program will last approximately 60 minutes.
The composer says of this piece:
“… Chapter One is a piece about restarts and finding your way to a destination after many tries. Each of the short movements in the piece are new beginnings. The idea for a piece made up of beginnings came to me through reading I, the Divine by Rabih Alameddine, a novel written entirely out of first chapters. There is a certain energy to beginnings that to me was attractive and worth exploring. …”
