DaPonte Honors Quartet

Continuing the legacy.

The Friends of Daponte String Quartet is proud to announce our exciting new youth ensemble program: The DaPonte Honors Quartet.

In this new component of our educational programming, four students of high school age with exceptional ability and dedication will be chosen every year to be that year’s DaPonte Honors Quartet.  This group will be provided focused, intensive training for one year with the members of the DaPonte String Quartet, and will have opportunities to perform before a public audience during their tenure.  We are proud to be able to add this new program to our extensive educational programming wing, one that now includes the Adult Workshop, the International Summer Institute for early career students, the residential High School workshop, the DaPonte Honors Quartet, and K-12 outreach events.

This program will be free to the accepted students. DaPonte Honors Quartetmembers will be chosen from DSQ High School workshop participants, which will be held this year on September 17-19, 2021.  Registration and application information for this free workshop can be found at our website:  daponte.org or at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/daponte-2021-string-quartet-workshop-for-high-school-string-players-registration-147131603587

DaPonte Honors Quartet students will receive weekly, in-person instruction from DSQ musicians, and will participate in at least one ensemble rehearsal per week. For more info, please contact lisa@daponte.org

The DaPonte String Quartet is now in its 30th season and its members are still proud to call Maine home!
