2017 Fall Appeal

Dear Friends,

ENCORE!

I'm sure you've shouted it after a concert that moved you. It means, literally, both "Again!" and "More!"

The Quartet has had a stellar year, and next year we plan to do it not just again—but even more. This year we:

Performed piano quintets with renowned pianist Awadagin Pratt;

Commissioned a new work (left) by esteemed composer, Richard Danielpour;

Inaugurated our Bridge Project, bringing four students from urban performing arts schools to Camp Kieve for our free High School String Quartet Workshop; CLICK HERE for a wonderful video of the DSQ mentoring students at Kieve;

Taught free master classes to young string players in Westbrook; and performed with La Scala mezzo soprano (Maine native) Kate Aldrich.

Next year we hope to:

  • bring more Bridge Project students to the quartet workshop;
  • offer more free master classes for student string players, this time in Western Maine;
  • bring Awadagin Pratt back again and invite even more celebrated performers to Maine for our Summer series;
  • and perform the world premiere of Danielpour's new work.

You count on us to bring the best in classical music to all of Maine - but we also count on you to help us do this. Here's what your tax-deductible gift can pay for:

  • $50: one hour of mentoring one young student;
  • $100: room-and-board for one student at our 3-day Kieve workshop;
  • $250: rent for one venue for one concert; or
  • $300-$500: travel to Maine for one guest artist or one Bridge student.

Please help us make 2018 an ENCORE year for Maine classical music by giving as generously as you can. IT'S SO EASY—JUST And thank you!

Yours,

Les Fossel, President

Amy MacDonald, Executive Director
